  they excuse it by saying, it's ok since at least they were on the watch.. i believe they should think about god's view of watchmen who constantly gave false pronouncements.

  HAVE JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES GIVEN INCORRECT DATES FOR THE END?

  Jehovah’s Witnesses have had wrong expectations about when the end would come. Like Jesus’ first-century disciples, we have sometimes looked forward to the fulfillment of prophecy ahead of God’s timetable. (Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6; 2 Thessalonians 2:1, 2) We agree with the sentiment of longtime Witness A. H. Macmillan, who said: “I learned that we should admit our mistakes and continue searching God’s Word for more enlightenment.”

  Why, then, do we continue to highlight the nearness of the end? Because we take seriously Jesus’ words: “Keep looking, keep awake.” The alternative, to be found “sleeping” by Jesus, would prevent us from gaining his favor. (Mark 13:33, 36) Why?

  Consider this example: A lookout in a fire tower might see what he thinks is a wisp of smoke on the horizon and sound what proves to be a false alarm. Later, though, his alertness could save lives.

  Likewise, we have had some wrong expectations about the end. But we are more concerned with obeying Jesus and saving lives than with avoiding criticism. Jesus’ command to “give a thorough witness” compels us to warn others about the end.—Acts 10:42.

  We believe that even more important than focusing on when the end will come, we must be confident that it will come, and we must act accordingly. We take seriously the words of Habakkuk 2:3, which says: “Even if [the end] should delay [compared to what you thought], keep in expectation of it; for it will without fail come true. It will not be late.”

  CO Disfellowshipped in UK

  so, i have it on very good authority that a co has recently been disfellowshipped in the uk.

  he has just finished serving the north west london area.

  i don't know any details but perhaps there is someone who does know what happened.

  Not been on here in a long while....but as the Mrs said (Mickeymouse) its possible we know this guy as an Elder in our congregation became an CO and went down to North London on his last assigment....

  Unrest in the Governing Body

  one of the many questions that i am asked is what are the current gb members like, who are the hardliners and who are more moderate.. because of my previous job, at a european bethel, i had dealings with most of them with the exception of sam herd.. these are my observations of my conversations with them and how others who had dealings with them.. other ex bethelites may have contrary views to mine, but i would be surprised.. i had spent a lot of time with splane, lett and morris.

  There is clearly a disconect building between the new generation of Witnesses coming up through the congregations and the GB. Even some of the older Elders are becoming uneasy about the way the GB are behaving.

  Daniel was ment to be quite detailed in all his other visions/dreams and some how I doubt he'd miss an important detail like the number of toes, if there was 11, 12 or whatever. If you follow that reasoning along, Daniel dosen't specifically how many arm and legs the image has...The mind Boggles....It's all Hogwash.

  i just finished watching worlds apart and was very moved by it.

  i served as an elder for many years.

  i wanted to convey to all how sorry i am for all of the jc's i participated in.

  Welcome ,you'll never be without a listening ear here. Though i don't post much, my other half does and I keep up to date that way. I know a member of our family who is an Elder has been on here, though he knows nothing of our situation. We know the threads he was reading. Fear not he wasn't gathering information to oust someone, I think he's just want to know whats happening in the organization. Maybe he will see something that will make him think...I hope so. At times I feel like coming out with it all how we feel, but the thought of the repercussions scare me.

  I find it interesting and find out more about Witnesses than I ever do at the meetings(yes I still go)..When a lot of your family are witnesses it's hard to just cut yourselves off "cold turkey" style as "On the way out" said. Personally I don't find the need to discuss every feeling and gripe I have about JWs and others , but I can understand those who do need to talk about it. The one thing I do benefit from is the knowledge that I'm(we) are not alone in what we are going through.

  What would be essential to such a Youtube video is the illustration of the Flood that appeared in an '80s brochure or tract. I've been searching for it for years, I hope someone has it. It is an updating of the same illustration of the Flood that appeared in the 1978 My Book of Bible Studies....with one exception, it shows a Tyrannosaurus Rex drowning. I swear I remember this because I was surprised when I saw it....I'm hoping someone has a copy of the image.

  I remember the illustration and in later versions I think it was changed to a Wooly Mamouth and also a sabre toothed tiger on a log....or is my mind playing tricks on me.

  Discussion on the way out of convention

  sunday evening there were a group of sisters talking on their walk back to the carpark.

  "so if the generation just means that your life overlapped with people who were around in 1914, couldn't that just go on forever?".

  ""i guess...." (looked at each other confused, then at me as i walked past).. to which i said: "oh yes, remember the days when the generation was a simple 70 years from 1914?".

  I put a general posting about bizzare new idea of a generation on my Facebook page, where many of my Witness relatives will be able to see it...I wait with interest whether any respond to it....though my wifes uncle is certainly puzzled by this new light.
